"I am no loger of this world" by Don Krim (Classical Artist from The United States)

Don Krim's classical operatic album is titled "I am no longer of this world." This is the countertenor's debut album, featuring Suzanne Bradbury on the piano, in which he sings Gustav Mahler's "Ruckert Lieder" and Peter Lieberson's "Rilke Songs." Krim's voice is breathtaking and while it may remind one of a mature choir-boy or a mezzo-soprano, it actually is neither and superior at the same time. "Atmen, du unsichtbares, Gedicht!" is a song in which we can hear how his voice can lie in such a high register, yet also resonate deeply, in this song that embodies both dark and bright themes simultaneously. In "Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen" one can really hear the beauty within Suzanna Bradbury's finesse upon the piano and it interplays with Don's soaring voice. This is an album that any fan of classical vocal composition would enjoy. If you already enjoy the likes of Lorraine Hunt Lieberson then "I am no longer of this world" is an album you will want to hear immediately.

"New Music for Banjo" by Mark Sylvester (Classical Artist from Maryland(MD))

Mark Sylvester's latest CD is titled "New Music for Banjo." It is an album built around Mark's skillful banjo playing, featuring both a bluegrass and classical sensibility. CD-opener, "Trio #1, movement 1," is a beautifully gentle and warm composition comprised of the banjo, oboe and cello. On "Cascade," however, Mark shows off his finger-picking skills in a solo piece for him and his prized banjo. Then there is "Pulse (in 7)," a complex and introspective piece in which Mark's banjo takes a slight backseat to the fevered interplay of a string quartet. This album is a well-crafted crossroads for contemporary, classical and folksy banjo playing. If you enjoy Bela Fleck, or interesting takes on classical music, then Mark Sylvester's CD, "New Music for Banjo," is an undoubted must-hear.

"In My Soul" by Antonia (Classical Artist from Austria)

"In My Soul" is the latest release from the gifted pianist, Antonia. This album is a beautifully sounding collection of Antonia's personal classical compositions. It features just her on the piano, and truly is a recording of the highest quality. In "Once in a Wintertime" she plays hypnotically as her left hand plays the lower register with somber tonality while the right hand caresses the keys with a melody that is smooth and emotive creating a melodic and interesting composition. On the song, "After All Spring" she gives us a pleasantly prancing and hopeful piano piece. Another song, "Joy" Antonia employs the entire piano well, and usually at once, in a complex and moving song. Whether you are a fan of Chopin or Mozart's piano compositions, or maybe an audiophile who enjoys the stunning and beautiful capabilities of a skilled pianist, then "In My Soul" by Antonia is an album for you.

"Movements in the Moment" by Rhonda Lorence (Classical Artist from North Carolina(NC))

"Movements in the Moment" is the latest release from the gifted viola player Rhonda Lorence. This album was recorded employing the use of numerous vocal and instrumentation combinations that definitely qualify the sound as "Neo-Classical." However, in this album Rhonda skillfully uses the viola as the central pivot point for beautiful musical storytelling and mental picture painting. On the song, "Trail of Tears" we hear the viola placed front and center as it gradually sings a sad song which your ears will follow as if it was a tuneful tale. Then on other tracks such as "Doria" the viola takes a background seat to fluttering and airy female vocals simply singing the name Doria. Another outstanding track, "Shift it" Rhonda gives us a weave of viola picking and vocals over a snazzy yet subtle drum line. "Movements in the Moment" is an eclectic mix of classical basics meshed with modern experimentalism, with a seemingly constant emphasis on expressing emotions and stories through the music. If you are a fan of expressive Neo-Classical music or simply the viola itself then "Movements in the Moment" should be on your list of music to hear.

Elisabeth Waldo and her exquisite album, "Land of Golden Dreams CD" is a diverse collection of world cultures beautifully embellished with instrumental sound textures. Waldo, a talented composer and violinist, has taken her explorations of world cultures and deftly creates a relaxed and well orchestrated production of contemporary classical music. Feel the calm ocean waves gently roll onto the shore as the birds call from high above "On a Mystic Island." "Jean Sibelius - Compositions for Piano" by Heidi Saario (Classical Artist from Ontario, Canada)

Heidi Saario has put together a fine group of pieces written by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius in this wonderful collection of Classical Works, "Jean Sibelius - Compositions for Piano." Her playing on this CD is very emotional and is clearly the work of an accomplished pianist. The emotion is brought into these performances in part, by the effective use of dynamics. "Two Rondinos, Op. 68: I and II" are great examples of the feeling put into these works. They have power drawn from the romantic era but the structured beauty of the Classical. Heidi Saario's "Jean Sibelius - Compositions for Piano" is full of beauty and feeling that shines through in this recording.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Stephen W. Duncan with a GrIndie Award for the CD "The Full Moons "

Stephen W. Duncan has ingeniously and eloquently mirrored the episodic events of the moon with his expressive and appropriately named album, "The Full Moons." Duncan has created an atmosphere of beautifully orchestrated compositions using various types of instrumentation with tones of classical and New Age finesse. Stunning and powerful, "Snow Moon," casts out a luscious melody highlighted by dazzling dynamics as the strings swell only to gently recede ever so softly. A bright and crisp piano cascades across the keys on "Flower Moon" while the Eastern tonality of various instruments gives way to a charming melody. Upbeat and lively, "Harvest Moon" impresses with country style with the banjo plucking away, while the percussion taps to a steady beat. The motif of Stephen W. "Alegria" by Ioan Harea (Classical Artist from Canada)

A passionate collection of delectable Latin flavors gracefully blended with some smooth and silky Jazz is the latest compilations on "Alegria," by Ioan Harea. As an accomplished violinist, Harea displays his versatility in all genres of music throughout his entire collection of albums. Included in this album are two favorite Latin standards, the memorable "Adios Muchachos" and the bright and lively tune "Tico Tico." The vim and vigor abound on "Joropo" as the guitar harmonizes in spectacular form around the crisp and stunning melody of the violin. Fantastic precision between instruments on "Spain" exhibit the talents of the musicians and their exquisite clarity. On the softer side, "Minor Swing" is somber in quality and expresses heartfelt emotions. "Scratch" by Bela Lugosi (Classical Artist from California(CA))

Stunning and spectacular makes the headlines for Bela Lugosi and their spectacular classical album, "Scratch." Don't let the band name, Bela Lugosi of horror film fame, scare you off, as some of this twenty seven-track disc is dedicated to paying homage to highly acclaimed classical composers such as Bach, Chopin, Brahms, and Mendellsohn. Created by Misha Bodnar, an accomplished cellist, this group rises up to incredible heights with their fantastic abilities. The entire collection of pieces is performed by magnificent and breathtaking strings that are strong and brilliant yet dazzle with emotions pouring from the heart. Listeners will feel the fire and fury of the strings on "Sabre Dance" and "Bach Invention in F Major," as this intense, fevered precision is no easy task. Also interwoven into the disc are clever vocal clips of Béla Lugosi himself on "Béla Lugosi in One Body Two Many" and "Béla Lugosi in The Body Snatchers" which emanates an air of mysterious qualities. RadioIndy is pleased to present Kenneth Robinson & Dave Wagner with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Let The Trumpet Sound"

Kenneth Robinson (Trumpet) and Dave Wagner (Organ) present "Let The Trumpet Sound" featuring Grammy, Emmy, and Oscar winning guest performers. This all-star album features guest artists such as Cuban trumpet star, Arturo Sandoval; Principal Trumpet Emeritus of the Chicago Symphony, Adolph Herseth; Principal Trumpet of the Boston Symphony, Charles Schlueter; and more. The CD was recorded in a cathedral, which gives it a more natural and bigger sound. The musicianship on the CD is outstanding, nicely using dynamics to add emotion to the tracks. The structured voice of the trumpet is contrasted by the pipe organ as the instrument producing harmony, form, and texture. As several forms on this album are Sonata's, which is defined as a work for one or more instruments with several movements, the grandeur and magnificence between each instrument is a distinguishable feature. "Sonata a9: Sancti Polycarpi (featuring award winning guests)" is mastery and refinement at its best. The CD also includes an impressive track that is a classical-style tribute to the legendary Maynard Ferguson from alumnists and friends who perform on the CD. "Let The Trumpet Sound" moves the listener's passions with masterpieces performed in a reverberant cathedral setting and is a must have addition to your classical CD collection.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Judith White with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Awakening Life Force: Our Odyssey"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Judith White with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Awakening Life Force: Our Odyssey"

"Awakening Life Force: Our Odyssey" is an excellent ambient new age album from Washington performer and composer Judith White. White's music responds to the questions of who we are and why we're here on earth, and this release takes these questions and turns them into a concept album about the evolving phases and aspects of life. Through beautiful, skillful, and calming piano-led new age arrangements, White crafts stunning instrumentals that befit each song title. "Take Your Power Back," for example, has a great authoritative stomping beat throughout, creating a sound that says you're on the march, and with direction. "Awakening Life Force" is well-produced, and the ambience, piano, and other instrumental work all sound clean and precise. "Delight" has a beautiful progression that uses the entire piano to tell a calming story of contentedness. "Tension" is a great piano composition that features a continuity of the aggressive beat in "Take Your Power Back," but this time on the high end of the piano, and haunting ambience. With "Awakening Life Force: Our Odyssey," Judith White has crafted a magnificent album with beautiful piano work and an interesting concept. Fans of ambient new age and excellent pianists are going to want to pick this one up.

"World" by Hjortur (Ambient Artist from Denmark)

Sit back and enjoy the relaxing music of "World," the latest release by Hjortur. In an inspiring compilation of blending the music styles of New Age, classical, and soothing mood music, Hjortur has captured the relaxing ambience of these musical forms. The beauty in which this entire album is produced is clearly heard because of the vision Hjortur has expressed through his music. Subtle drum beats and strings give flavor to the New Age piece "Ethnic" yet hints of classical piano add grace. "Arctic" highlights a grand classical piano composition with multi-layered strings and builds up to a dynamic swell of the drums. Listen and feel the sounds of the earth on "Forest" as the birds chirp sweetly in the background and the bongos beat to a simple steady beat. Hjortur's "World" will be enjoyed by those who like dreamy, peaceful, and relaxing music; listeners should definitely pick this one up.
